creamy, rich, and chocolatey I happened upon this recipe, and boy am I glad. It's a little time consuming, but there are shortcuts. I pre melted the chocolate (whole squares, not grated) in the microwave. Just enough to be moveable, not totally melted. Then, I added the cocoa with a little instant coffee. From there I added the hot liquid and it melted it the rest of the way. I also used a springform pan. It worked fine. I left the cake in the fridge overnight, and tried a piece the next day with a little whipped cream. I didn't do the orange part of the recipe. I just did the cake. I usually have a lindor dark chocolate truffle once a day, but now I think I'm going to have a thin slice of this. I'm also going to cut and freeze all the pieces and take them out as I need them. This is an awesome cake for so little calories. I also didn't add the rest of the sugar when I did the egg whites. It was sweet enough. Perfect chocolate fix. Maybe I'll experiment with it a little more when I make it again. DEEEELLLIIISSHHH.

To serve: Soak the blade of a thin knife in a cup of very hot water until warm. Slide the knife around the sides of the pan to release the cake. Place a piece of wax paper on top of the cake. Invert a plate over the wax paper and invert the pan onto the plate. Remove the pan and peel away the paper liner. Place a serving plate over the cake and turn the cake right-side up again; remove the wax paper. Dip a sharp knife in hot water and wipe it dry before cutting each slice. Serve with Candied Orange Peel, if desired.

Don't feel guilty if you need your daily chocolate fix. Dark chocolate that is 70 to 85 percent cacao offers around 90 calories per half-ounce serving. In 2011, Boston-based researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital conducted a review of the benefits of dark chocolate. Published in the "European Journal of Clinical Nutrition," the study reported that consuming dark chocolate on a daily basis for two to 12 weeks improves blood cholesterol levels by lowering low-density lipoprotein, or LDL cholesterol. This is the harmful cholesterol that hardens arteries and increases your risk of heart disease. Although dark chocolate can be beneficial for your heart, keep your serving size to a half-ounce to avoid consuming a high amount of calories.

(and was a funny story) Point is: making a statement like this - even if it’s about something that didn’t cross your mind earlier, or that you already assumed to be true, creates doubt about other products that don’t advertise that feature.

What is it about these foods that make us feel guilty? It’s different for everyone. Generally speaking, American society’s obsession with healthy eating can make it seem “better” to opt for a salad (nutritious, lower in calories, green) rather than a burger (oily, higher in calories, processed). In some cases, people have arbitrarily decided (perhaps after reading a misguided article or two) what foods are “good” or “bad” and feel guilty after eating a “bad’ food as a result of this categorization.
This way we aren’t over eating and “ruining” anything. Seriously, you will be amazed at the progress you make following this rule. Remember a burger, fries, and milkshake aren’t inherently evil, they are made up of protein, carbs, fat, minerals and vitamins just like salmon and broccoli. But it’s a lot easier to eat 2,500 calories in one sitting at 5 Guys scarfing back our food with no awareness.
UV radiation is one part of the spectrum of light that reaches the earth from the sun. At the UV end of the spectrum, the wavelengths are too short to be visible to the naked eye. They range in length from 100 to 400 nanometers (nm, or billionths of a meter) and are classified — from the longest to the shortest — as UVA (320 to 400 nm), UVB (290 to 315 nm), and UVC (100 to 280 nm). UVA rays, which penetrate deep into the skin, are responsible for tanning. UVB rays damage superficial skin cell layers, causing sunburn. UVC rays, the shortest, are considered harmless, since most UVC light is absorbed by ozone in the upper atmosphere and thus does not reach the earth. Of the UV solar radiation that does reach the earth, up to 95% is UVA, and about 5% is UVB. For years, scientists believed UVB rays were the most harmful, because sunburn is linked to melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. But since the late 1980s, we've learned that UVA rays also increase skin cancer risk — and they are the main cause of photoaging.
How to stop this? Train yourself to remember that healthy eating is NOT a straight and easy path. Some days we will eat too much and some days we won’t eat enough. It’s just life. Get back up and get back in the game. Go for a walk and let go of all those negative feelings. Let those endorphins get you back on the right track. After all, it’s just one meal.
