Don’t try to “work it off.” We’ve all been there: you eat a few too many cookies, then pledge to hit the gym extra hard the following day. Bad news: you can’t out-exercise a poor diet. In fact, exercising is the least efficient way that our bodies burn calories. So what should you do? Don’t worry about it. In order to gain one real pound, you would have to eat 3500 calories over your caloric limit. That’s over 5000 calories in a day! As long as you’re not going over your calorie budget on a regular basis, one day won’t derail your diet. So forget about cookies of the past and just keep sticking to your plan.
While once museums held collections of arrowheads and rudimentary knives, visitors to this museum, which opens in LA at the end of bikini season, will enjoy a “donut gym complete with pastry dumbbells, or a life-size bowl of cereal where you suspend from the spoon to get that perfect Insta shot”. There is an area where visitors will be invited to take selfies in an oversized “hamburger dress”, and in the gift shop, to purchase merchandise embroidered with the word “Cheater”.
The recipes include a selection of comfort foods and indulgent treats that have been made healthier by reducing their levels of fat and calories. For example, a typical slice of chocolate cake has 746 calories and 38 grams of fat, whereas Alexander’s recipe for Dark Chocolate Layer Cake with Buttercream Frosting has just 294 calories and 6 grams of fat.
Healthy eating and healthy living is definitely a lifestyle. A lot of time, effort and self-control goes into making the right decisions when it comes to food. But sometimes, it’s hard to always say “no” to your favorite things to eat. It’s easy to fall into a deceptive web of self-pity and negativity when we eat the things we consider “not good” for our health. While I’m a huge believer in healthy eating, I am also a believer in self-care and self-love. After all, you can’t take care of your body, if you’re not taking care of yourself mentally and emotionally. You may be one of those people who is often very hard on yourself. Here a few tips on Guilt-Free Eating to help you balance healthy eating with living well. In the long term, it will help you be happier and stick to your goals.
Excellent recipe, came out amazing, delicious and just as the picture. Taste was rich and cake moist. Was a bit too sweet, will reduce the amount of sugar next time. No need to add sugar to the egg whites. If you want your cake to have height, you need to be extremelly careful while folding in the whipped egg whites. Overall I really recommend if you are a chocolate lover like me!

Not only that, but many of us are trying to lose a few extra pounds, so even if healthy food is being consumed, there is still a lot of guilt experienced around the amount of calories one has probably eaten.

Finally, I learned about functional medicine and found a practitioner that I hoped could help me. They ran specialized tests that were far different than I had ever had before. When I got the results back, it turned out I had candida, parasites, high cortisol, the Epstein Bar Virus and many food intolerances. I also had an issue with my thyroid that no one found before because they were using the conventional medicine lab ranges which are way too broad….which I now know is one of the leading causes of hypothyroid misdiagnosis.

“There are an abundance of messages that tell overweight people it should be easy to lose or maintain a healthy weight,” she said. “For instance, ‘just eat less and move more.’ There are a lot of negative and shaming words and phrases around food: ‘I shouldn’t,’ ‘it’s naughty,’ ‘it’s a treat,’ ‘I’ve been good, so I’ll have one.’ We are wired to move away from pain, so the term ‘guilt-free’ likely provides a sense of relief that comes from reading a ‘guilt-free’ message before buying, and it helps marketers sell their products.”

What else? There is never ‘guilt’ as an ingredient. I promise. Go check the back of your favorite “guilty” food, it won’t be listed. When we label foods as ‘guilt free’ it makes it seem like we should feel guilt about foods that aren’t labeled guilt free. Yikes. What’s really happening is that the labeling of this product is using basic psychology and marketing principles to make you buy their product - but it’s also changing how you feelings and thoughts about food.

Plus perfect individual serving! Plus this recipe can be easily changed to your taste preference. We used pecans in the crust, but any nut would work.  For the filling, we used cashews as they provide the best cream. But macadamia nuts would be okay.  We reduced the amount of sugar in these chocolate cream cakes, so adjust to your liking.
I decided to make it while my older boys were at baseball practice (so they wouldn’t see what I was making) and then give them a piece after dinner and get their feedback. They. Loved. It. When I told them it had a can of Diet Coke in it, their jaws hit the floor! You can use any kind of diet soda and any cake mix too – I’m already thinking of the yummy combos! Strawberry cake mix + orange soda, funfetti cake + lemon-lime soda, I mean seriously the list goes on and on! Because healthy foods are delicious and are supposed to be!!!! Have you ever went through a long period of no sugar and realized how tasty fruits and veggies really are? The problem is, our taste buds are desensitized to naturally delicious, natural foods thanks to processed foods. And I once heard on Dr Oz, we are addicted to our food people! So no, I do not buy your argument to justify to continue to eat processed, high fat, and high sugar foods, that we are addicted to. I guarantee you, if you ate all natural foods that our bodies were designed to consume, we would naturally return to a normal and healthy weight, and we would no longer overeat. Read the latest research on epigenetics…..our cells rely on certain vitamins and minerals, and many genes of certain diseases are turned on later in life bc of our bad habits.

Seek balance and practice moderation. Remember that food is necessary for both nourishment and enjoyment. Work on not only having a healthy body, but also on having a healthy relationship with yourself and with food.

Then we have a box of Cheetos and glass of soda. The glass of soda is a bunch of chemicals and pure sugar that has no nutrients. Just caloric energy (calories). The Cheetos are made from chemicals and wheat that has been stripped of its nutrients and processed down to flour. This process makes these foods more calorie dense and easier to consume more of.

Quick story: My brother recently moved to Bermuda for work and went to a new dentist there. While the dentist was introducing himself - doing his spiel - he touted to my brother, “And I want you to know, we’re very proud that all of our equipment is totally sterile and we check it before each patient - just like in the States!” Not only did this make my brother think about the possibility of non-sterile equipment being used but it also created doubt about other dentists in Bermuda! (and was a funny story) Point is: making a statement like this - even if it’s about something that didn’t cross your mind earlier, or that you already assumed to be true, creates doubt about other products that don’t advertise that feature.
