Because healthy foods are delicious and are supposed to be!!!! Have you ever went through a long period of no sugar and realized how tasty fruits and veggies really are? The problem is, our taste buds are desensitized to naturally delicious, natural foods thanks to processed foods. And I once heard on Dr Oz, we are addicted to our food people! So no, I do not buy your argument to justify to continue to eat processed, high fat, and high sugar foods, that we are addicted to. I guarantee you, if you ate all natural foods that our bodies were designed to consume, we would naturally return to a normal and healthy weight, and we would no longer overeat. Read the latest research on epigenetics…..our cells rely on certain vitamins and minerals, and many genes of certain diseases are turned on later in life bc of our bad habits.
It's not uncommon to be doing well on a diet but also think from time to time, "I would do anything for a giant slice of cake." Cravings for sugary, sweet, and all around indulgent desserts seem to spike and stick around whenever we've gotten used to a healthy routine, and that can feel especially true if you've decided to try the keto diet. Since the whole point of this regimen is to rely on healthy fats and oils to burn fat, plunging a fork into a dessert seems strictly off limits.

Living organisms maintain themselves by acquiring nutrients from their environments. The energy they extract from their environments permits them to initiate controlled movements. Basically, we are supposed to move, and by doing so we utilize nutrients we obtain from food. I dont think food enjoyment and pleasure is really a primal animal instinct. 😉

Although preferable, you DON’T have to. You see, most alcohol contains large amounts of carbs, which you are trying to control while on Ketogenic diet. Vodka with soda water and lime has zero carbs. So does tequila, brandy, and whiskey. Most glasses of wine (5oz, not the full glass) have 0-4g of carbs. Beer and mixed drinks have significantly more carbs. So if you are having your drinks straight up, you’ll be safer.

Oats are one of the more protein-dense whole grains, combined here with tender apples and the real protein star of this breakfast: yogurt. Use unsweetened Greek yogurt for the most protein and lowest sugar option. No more blood sugar crashes!

Dr. Jen is hopeful that at some point terms like “guilt-free” will be destigmatized. “Being overweight is linked with low self-esteem, so as our culture slowly shifts from viewing overweight as a problem of lack of motivation, willpower and self-discipline, and rather a symptom of distress and possibly poor mental health, I believe a more compassionate stance will emerge,” she said.
The recipes include a selection of comfort foods and indulgent treats that have been made healthier by reducing their levels of fat and calories. For example, a typical slice of chocolate cake has 746 calories and 38 grams of fat, whereas Alexander’s recipe for Dark Chocolate Layer Cake with Buttercream Frosting has just 294 calories and 6 grams of fat.
2. MELT the butter in a medium saucepan on medium heat. Stir in the sugars and reduce the heat to low. Heat the mixture (avoid simmering), stirring often, until the sugar is partially dissolved, 2 to 3 minutes. Transfer to a medium bowl and stir in the cocoa, vanilla and 1⁄2 tsp salt. Beat the eggs lightly in a small bowl. Add to the cocoa mixture, stirring until just combined. Add the flour and stir until just combined. Stir in the chopped walnuts.

Changing habits is an emotional processes by nature. They can be borne out of unhappiness, an intrinsic motivation such as being able to keep up with one’s kids, or simply a desire to lead a healthier lifestyle. Whatever the reason, lifestyle changes are often deeply personal. While some people love engaging in health and fitness communities, others would rather keep their information in a private app and never say a word about their goals. But no matter how you slice it, almost anyone who is trying to make a change in their diet has experienced food-related guilt. One study found that 80% of women and 70% of men suffer from food guilt. So what is food guilt and why does it happen to so many people?
Sure, you could just eat cold pizza from the night before, but if you want to experience the true joy of pizza for breakfast, try this recipe. The pizza is topped with tater tots (you can choose fried or baked, but go with fried today, obviously)—plus two kinds of bacon. Oh, and there are eggs on top too. And cheese. Breakfast of champions? Yes indeed.
What is it about these foods that make us feel guilty? It’s different for everyone. Generally speaking, American society’s obsession with healthy eating can make it seem “better” to opt for a salad (nutritious, lower in calories, green) rather than a burger (oily, higher in calories, processed). In some cases, people have arbitrarily decided (perhaps after reading a misguided article or two) what foods are “good” or “bad” and feel guilty after eating a “bad’ food as a result of this categorization.

That’s right—fresh and fluffy doughnut holes rolled in cinnamon and sugar and baked in neat and tidy muffin pans right in your own kitchen. Eating a Timbit will never be the same.

Instead of wondering whether a food is ‘bad’ and if you should feel guilty for eating it, think ‘Does this food nourish my body? Does it have vitamins and minerals?” If it does, then enjoy it thoroughly and feel good about treating your body like a temple. Far too often I hear people feeling guilty or concerned about eating butter, oil, bacon, a juicy steak, potatoes, nuts, shrimp, eggs, peanut butter, cheese, bread, cream, too much fruit, chocolate and even coffee! These foods have plenty of vitamins and minerals and regardless of their caloric content they help to support the chemical reactions in your body that make up your metabolism, the health of your skin and other endothelial cells that line your blood veins and digestive system, the hormones, proteins and neurotransmitters responsible for communication all over the body as well as brain, bone, muscle, organ, and tissue health.

Excellent recipe, came out amazing, delicious and just as the picture. Taste was rich and cake moist. Was a bit too sweet, will reduce the amount of sugar next time. No need to add sugar to the egg whites. If you want your cake to have height, you need to be extremelly careful while folding in the whipped egg whites. Overall I really recommend if you are a chocolate lover like me!
Targeted Ketogenic Diets (TKD) are geared towards bodybuilders. This variation of the ketogenic diet allows athletes to ingest high-quality carbohydrates within a half hour of a workout. Since the athletes are performing high-intensity workouts, they are able to burn the additional carbs off very quickly in a workout. They literally burn them before it affects their state of ketosis. If the carbs aren’t burned completely, or in a short period of time, the body is taken out of ketosis.
Well, buckle up, because these healthy desserts are about to take you on an unexpected, yet truly exciting ride. This means we’re not talking about chocolate covered strawberries—as tasty as they are. From potassium-packed chocolate banana bread muffins to “clean” cookie dough (that’s totally safe to eat raw), these amazing healthy desserts prove that healthy eating doesn’t have to mean salads without dressing. What’s more, making healthy choices can mean actually looking forward to what you eat.
Peanut butter has to be one of my favourite go-to spreads. But I have to admit, I always feel a little bit guilty after indulging in it. It may be delicious, but it’s packed with calories, and the non-organic peanut butter that fills most households is basically pure sugar, which is no good, especially if you’re trying to lose weight. You may know that the keto diet is one of the most effective eating plans for weight loss, but did you know the PB2 keto recipes offer an even better way to lose weight and make it last? That’s right, you can get all the benefits of the keto diet, plus even lower calorie snacks and meals due to PB2!
What else? There is never ‘guilt’ as an ingredient. I promise. Go check the back of your favorite “guilty” food, it won’t be listed. When we label foods as ‘guilt free’ it makes it seem like we should feel guilt about foods that aren’t labeled guilt free. Yikes. What’s really happening is that the labeling of this product is using basic psychology and marketing principles to make you buy their product - but it’s also changing how you feelings and thoughts about food.
A healthy fudge that takes ten minutes to make. Say what?! This rich fudge is the perfect combo of super food ingredients that will grab your hunger’s attention. With the calorie count low, make these into fudge bars with two servings worth. Change up the toppings each time you make these with some other nutrient dense foods (even try something like cayenne to give it a little kick)!

If you’re looking for an alternative to cream and sugar-based ice creams, a can of coconut milk perked up with espresso beans is just the ticket. The healthy fats in coconut butter (similar to peanut butter, but made with coconut flakes instead of nuts) rounds things out.

There are no tricks to these tasty dairy- and egg-free cupcakes. Be sure to use refrigerated soy or almond milk instead of the shelf-stable kind (there are fewer additives, which can greatly affect texture and taste).

It’s not so long ago that to be thought of as a “picky eater” was something to be avoided at all costs. “More tripe please!” you’d gag, spooning remnants of emulsified cabbage into your mouth to get rid of the taste of undiluted Vimto, secure in the knowledge there would be pink Angel Delight as soon as you’d cleaned your plate. Until: suddenly not. Suddenly the concept blossomed, its roots cracking the tarmac and altering the landscape, causing pile-ups. And here we are in a time when to be a picky eater is simply to be “educated”, adult, conscious, in pursuit of physical health at both emotional and social cost, and also, importantly, better than you.
Baby carrots are a guilt-free food you can enjoy at your desk or while on the road. A 1-cup serving of raw baby carrots has a minimal 25 calories and about 3 grams of fiber to make you feel full. The orange color of carrots is due to beta-carotene, a vitamin A compound essential for vision health. Women need 2,333 international units of vitamin A compounds and men require 3,000 IU daily, according to the Linus Pauling Institute. Carrots provide nearly 1,800 IU of vitamin A compounds in the form of beta-carotene per half-cup serving.
Great, super rich, vven taking short cuts with recipe! We loved this cake. I took a couple of shortcuts and it still came out great. First, I made this in a cheesecake springform pan without the water bath around it ( these pans would leak) so it would be easier to get out of the pan without inverting. Baked fine without the water bath around it and came out of pan. Secondly, I did not do the sugar, flour mixture in a pan as I thought I might burn it. I melted the chocolate in a double boiler and added the sugar and milk right to it in the double boiler. Thirdly, I did not make the topping but thought I might serve it with thaws frozen raspberries. S all in all, I made the recipe easier and it was rich and delicious. Pros: Delicious Cons: None
